Is Meditation For You?

Meditation has been around for ages. Its advocates claim that meditation can bring you closer to God, help you improve yourself, enable deeper relaxation, better sleep , lower your blood pressure , align the charkas, find the perfect mate, improve focus and concentration and bring you true wealth?

These claims of meditation are not unfounded . The ancient Hindus, Tibetans , Shamans and Native Americans actually used meditation practice as a way to heal the body. In the classic book, Think and Grow Rich Napoleon Hill describes autosuggestion as a way to create riches in your life. More recently,
The multi millionaire, T. Harv Eker, in his book, “Secretes of the Millionaire Mind” ,ask his readers to declare, “ My inner world creates my outer world”.

Types of Meditation
Qi-Gung, TM, Yoga, Sound healing, Candle Meditation, Autosuggestion, Self hypnosis, Silver mind Control, The Secret, The Moses Code, The Mechizedek Method and many other modalities – ancient and modern.

The truth is, that there are too many types, styles and schools of meditation to list. However, as a general, meditation styles utilize deep breathing techniques and fall under the following guidelines.

Meditation with Sound (Sonic Meditation)
The practitioner emits a sound using his or her voice
This can be a chant, such as Om, I am that , I am (The Moses Code) , declarations, affirmations
Vowel sounds, etc. This popular style of meditation is often practiced with soft music in the background.

Meditation with Sacred Music
Similar to the above, but usually with religious music. This style of meditation is most likely practiced in a place of worship and is regarded as a Praise to the creator or as Being in the Spirit.

Meditation with Visualization
This practice is very powerful. The Mediator creates a movie in their mind of the life they endeavor to live. Afterwards, the mediator creates practical goals to help him/her achieve this perfect life.
Also done with meditation music and can be combined with other meditation methods.

Narrative or Guided Meditation
This modern technique is in essence a form of life coaching. The narrator usually begins by leading the practitioner though a series of breathing exercises – this is very relaxing. Next, the narrator guides the listener through a scripted story -visualization that is intended to lend help to the practitioner in a particular area of their life (for goal achievement or self improvement).
